Please see below for general information regarding the effect of extreme cold and potential power outages on swimming pools and pool equipment. This information is not intended to diagnose issues with your specific equipment and is not a substitute for professional winterization services, but may be helpful to you in the event of severe winter weather. University Pool Services cannot guarantee this will work and does not assume any liability for possible damage as a result.
The most important thing to help protect your pool is to keep your pump running. Pool equipment and pipes can still suffer freeze damage in saltwater pools, so it is crucial to monitor equipment to make sure the pump is continually running.
If your pool freezes over, and the pump is running, the water underneath the ice sheet is circulating, offering a degree of protection. Continue to monitor your equipment and make sure the pump keeps running.
IF YOU LOSE POWER, SEE DETAILED EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN PROCEDURE BELOW. Contact us at (214) 244-5279 when the temperatures rise, and water begins to thaw so that we can inspect your equipment for damage.

Important: Check with your pool technician to make sure these instructions are suitable for your equipment.
Like most of North Texas, our team may also experience power outages at our homes during severe weather. As such, there may be a delay in our response time to phone calls, messages, and emails.
Stay warm and be safe.
